Beta Cinema has boarded international sales rights on The Method, Lena Stahl’s adaptation of Juli Zeh’s thriller novel.
Currently in post-production, the film is set in a society shaped by comprehensive health and absolute transparency, where a scientist’s life is turned upside down when her brother is accused of murder.
It is produced by Quirin Berg, Max Wiedemann and Laura Mihajlovic for leading German producers Wiedemann & Berg Film, the company behind 2007 Oscar winner The Lives Of Others and Dark, the first German Netflix original series.
Hannah Herzsprung, Damian Hardung, Alexander Fehling, Haley Louise Jones and The Zone Of Interest actor Christian Friedel lead the cast.
Beta will introduce the title to buyers at next month’s European Film Market (EFM, February 12-18). German distributor Leonine is scheduling a wide theatrical release for the film later this year.
German writer Zeh has had her novels published in more than 15 countries. She also works as a judge in Germany, having been elected to the constitutional court of the state of Brandenburg in 2018.
The film joins a Beta slate that includes political thriller Keep Her Quiet starring Zar Amir, Jonathan Pryce and Amir El-Masry.
