Production has begun this week on Black Bear’s meta action comedy Jason Statham Stole My Bike starringStatham, directed by David Leitch. 

Black Bear will release the film in North America on August 6, 2027.

Leitch’s credits include The Fall Guy and Deadpool 2. He said Statham will play a version of himself.

Black Bear launched pre-sales at the EFM in Berlin in February when it was reportedt the budget is in the region of $80m and Amazon is circling international rights.

Jason Statham Stole My Bike marks the latest collaboration between Black Bear and Statham. They most recently wrapped production on Guy Ritchie’s Viva La Madness, and Black Bear kicked off pre-sales in Cannes on John Doe.

Alison Flierl wrote the screenplay based on a story from her and Scott Chernoff. Kelly McCormick produces alongside Leitch for 87North, with Statham for Punch Palace Productions, John Friedberg for Black Bear, and Meredith Berg and Ethan Erwin for Beryllium Entertainment.

Fifth Season and Tango – now led by Neil Shah with co-founder Tim Headington since Lia Buman left to head up global acquisitions at Paramount  – are the executive producers.

Black Bear’s North American releases include 2025 Telluride title Tuner, The Rivals Of Amziah King on August 14, Spa Weekend on August 21, and Wife & Dog and Sundance entry Wicker later this year.
