EXCLUSIVE: UK-based sales firm Blue Eyes Film has boarded worldwide rights on two features, including upcoming rom-com Love, Wine & Valentine.
Directed by Tam Sainsbury from a script by Jeremy Stanford, Love, Wine & Valentine follows Sophie, a vineyard owner who tries to set her difficult ex-partner up with a new love, Valentine; only for Sophie and Valentine to develop an unexpected friendship.
Production is set to begin in Queensland, Australia on February 23, with filming taking place in the region’s wine country. Natalie Bassingthwaighte leads the cast, alongside Lincoln Lewis, Alys Crocker, and Bernard Curry.
Jessica Butland, Stanford, and Sainsbury are producing the film, with Blue Eyes Film’s Michael Cowan and Pink Flamingo Media Group’s Jayney Mackie as executive producers.
The film is financed by Screen Queensland, Scout Financial, and Blue Eyes Film / Pink Flamingo Media Group. Radioactive Pictures has taken Australia-New Zealand theatrical rights.
“Audiences are hungry for uplifting, female-forward, feel-good entertainment with real heart and this film delivers exactly that,” said Cowan.
The company has also boarded Manipulation, an English-language conspiracy thriller from Czech filmmaker David Balda, through his Czech company Balda Film.
Manipulation sees layers peeled back on a powerful elite group exerting unseen control on society, through a system of manipulation embedded within political structures and the Christian church.
The film will be presented to buyers and festival programmers at the ongoing European Film Market (EFM), with a cast including Emily In Paris star Arnaud Binard.
It has already secured theatrical distribution deals for Germany (Filmwelt), Italy (Mescalito), Poland (Mayfly) and the Czech Republic and Slovakia (Falcon), with all territories scheduling releases for this year.
Blue Eyes Film, which has offices in London, Los Angeles and Rome, is selling both titles at EFM.
