The voice cast of Bong Joon Ho’s animated feature Ally has been revealed with rising star Alex Jayne Go taking the title role of the curious piglet squid.

She is supported by stars including Bradley Cooper, Werner Herzog, Finn Wolfhard, Dave Bautista, Ayo Edebiri and Rachel House.

It marks the biggest role to date for Go, who made her feature film debut in Sundance award-winner Searching, had a recurring role in Netflix series Emily’s Wonder Lab and is part of the main voice cast of Apple TV+ animated series Pretzel And The Puppies.

Cooper is the Oscar-nominated actor and director of A Star Is Born and voiced Rocket Raccoon in Guardians Of The Galaxy opposite Bautista, who also starred in Dune: Part Two. Wolfhard is known for his leading role in Netflix series Stranger Things while Edebiri is a Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winner for her role in FX series The Bear.

House’s voice work includes Moana, Zootopia 2 and A Minecraft Movie while acclaimed filmmaker Herzog recently wrapped Bucking Fastard, which he wrote and directed, and is in pre-production on The Twilight World.

Ally marks the first animated feature of director Bong, whose Parasite won the Palme d’Or at Cannes and four Oscars including best picture and best director.

The story follows a piglet squid living in the depths of the South Pacific Ocean, who dreams of seeing the sun and becoming the star of a wildlife documentary. But when a mysterious aircraft sinks into the ocean, her peaceful world is thrown into danger. Alongside her loyal yet unlikely companions, Ally goes on a journey that will take her all the way to the surface.

Bong co-wrote the script with Jason Yu and Seo Woo-sik produces the film, which will be completed in the first half of 2027.

Neon will release the film in North American theatres. Pathé will handle distribution in France, Benelux, Switzerland and West Africa while CJ and Penture will distribute in South Korea, Vietnam, Turkey and Indonesia. Pathé represents international sales excluding Japan and China, for which CJ and Penture will handle sales.
