The world premiere of Boots Riley’s second feature I Love Boosters will open the 2026 SXSW (March 12-18) in Austin, Texas, the festival announced on Thursday.
The Neon feature centres on a crew of professional shoplifters who take aim at a ruthless fashion maven. The ensemble cast features Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Eiza Gonzalez, LaKeith Stanfield, and Demi Moore.
Riley’s first feature Sorry To Bother You debuted at the festival in 2018 and he returned in 2023 with the world premiere of his series I Am A Virgo.
“Boots has created another wildly original and boundary-pushing vision that’s deliciously unpredictable,” Claudette Godfrey, SXSW VP film & TV, said.
“We can’t wait for our audience to be sucked into his singular, subversive world where razor-sharp social commentary meets fearless, surreal storytelling and eye-popping imagery – all powered by a ridiculously stacked cast of some of the most talented actors on the planet.”
