EXCLUSIVE: France’s Pyramide International has closed a raft of deals on Ann Sirot and Raphaël Balboni’s Diane In The Loop following its best film win in the Horizons section at Venice Film Festival last month.
The Belgium-France feature has sold to Canada (Funfilm Distribution), Denmark and Norway (Another World), Hungary (Mozinet), Italy (Fandango), Spain (Filmin), Sweden (TriArt) and Switzerland (Agora).
Pyramide Distribution will release the film in France on February 10, 2027, while Imagine Film Distribution holds Benelux rights.
Diane In The Loop centres on Diane, whose complicated relationship with men is thrown into further turmoil when she discovers her mother was raped three years before she was born. Despite her mother’s wishes, Diane decides to seek revenge, but nothing goes as she had imagined.
Ninon Borsei and Sandrine Blancke lead the cast, alongside Lucas Meister, Naidra Ayadi, Jo Deseure and Peter Van Den Begin.
The film is produced by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s Les Films du Fleuve alongside Marianne Productions. It premiered in Venice’s Horizons section in September, where it won best film, and has since picked up the best screenplay prize at Belgium’s Namur International Francophone Film Festival, which wrapped last weekend.
The French-language feature is Sirot and Balboni’s third, following their 2020 debut Madly In Life and The (Ex)perience Of Love, which premiered in Cannes Critics’ Week in 2023. The duo have built their work around tackling weighty subjects with an offbeat, often darkly comic touch.
