
EXCLUSIVE: Berenger Thouin’s fusion of fiction and archival footage The Golden Age (L’Age d’Or) has wooed buyers for Films Boutique following the film’s world premiere as the only new fiction feature playing in this year’s Cannes Classics.
The film is headed for release in France (Pyramide), Benelux (Cinéart), Greece (Filmtrade), Brazil (Imovision), Bulgaria Beta, Former Yugoslavia MCF Megacom plus pre-Cannes picked up territories Italy (Lucky Red) and Turkey (Bir Film).
The film centres on a woman born in a village butcher shop who dreams of becoming a countess and follows her over the years as her life intertwines with the period’s great upheavals.
Thouin’s debut feature blends footage from the Gaumont Pathé Archives with fictional material, presenting previously unseen footage of major historical events.
Souheila Yacoub stars alongside Vassili Schneider, Yile Yara Vianello and Pierre-Antoine Billon.
It is produced by Carine Ruszniewski from GoGoGo Films in France and Enrica.
