
EXCLUSIVE: Japanese filmmaker Yoshitoshi Shinomiya’s Berlin Competition animation A New Dawn has lured buyers across the globe with Charades inking a bevy of deals following the film’s world premiere in February’s Berlin Film Festival competition.
The film about a young boy who bands together with his brother and friend to help save a legendary fireworks factory scheduled for destruction has sold to Dazzler Media in the UK, Plus Film for Latin America, and Polyband Medien for Switzerland, Germany and Austria.
Further deals include Spain (Selecta Vision), Italy (Dynit), Greece (Rosebud 21), Romania (Bad Unicorn), CIS (Russian Report), the Baltics (Estofilm), Ukraine (KyivMusicFilm), Lebanon and the Gulf (Front Row Filmed Entertainment).
Asmik Ace released the film in Japan on March 6; ADN is handling French distribution.
The 2D animated film is produced by Japan’s Asmik Ace and France’s Miyu Productions. Shinomiya penned the script for what is his debut feature.
