
Sumerian Pictures has acquired North American rights to Norwegian writer-director Eivind Landsvik’s Cannes Directors’ Fortnight selection Low Expectations.
Marie Ulven aka musician girl in red and Anders Danielsen Lie play the leads in the story of a rising pop star who struggles to reconcile success with her inner life and reconnects with herself when she returns to her hometown and takes a part-time job at a local high school.
Lotte Sandbu and Synnøve Hørsdal produced Low Expectations for Maipo Film in co-production with Snowglobe. The film received support from the Norwegian Film Institute, Oslo Filmfond, Danish Film Institute, Nordisk Film & TV Fond and Eurimages.
Rob Williams, president of Sumerian Pictures, negotiated the deal with Salaud Morisset. Low Expectations will open theatrically in Norway on September 11.
