‘God’s Creatures’

BFI Distribution has picked up the UK-Ireland rights to Saela Davis and Anna Rose Holmer’s God’s Creatures from A24.

It is partnering with Irish distributor Volta Pictures for the Irish release.

God’s Creatures premiered in Cannes Directors’ Fortnight in 2022 and stars Emily Watson, Paul Mescal and Aisling Franciosi. It is set on the coast of Ireland in a fishing village, where a mother is torn between protecting her beloved son and her own sense of right and wrong. A lie she tells for him rips apart their family and close-knit community.

It is produced by Screen Star of Tomorrow 2016 Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly through her outfit Nine Daughters.

Volta Pictures will release the film in Ireland first, on March 24, and BFI Distribution will take it to UK cinemas a week later on March 31.

The Nine Daughters production was developed with the support of Screen Ireland, BBC Film and A24. It was co-financed by A24, BBC Film, Screen Ireland and the Western Region Audiovisual Producers Fund/WRAP.
