EXCLUSIVE: UK-based sales outfit Capture has added historical action epic Tamerlane: Rise Of The Last Conqueror to its Cannes slate.
The feature, based on a true story, is directed by US filmmaker Jacob Schwarz and written by Matthew Greene.
Capture launched earlier this year as a joint venture between Capstone Global and Signature Entertainment.
The film is about a fearless warrior named Timur who rises from the harsh deserts to command an unstoppable army and change history forever. It is based on the true story of Timur, born in modern day Uzbekistan, who went on to founde the Timurid Empire in and around modern-day Afghanistan, Iran, and Central Asia.
Christian Mortensen, Yulduz Rajabova and Mahesh Jadu star.
“Tamerlane is the story of a man who forged an empire and left a legacy that is still felt today, over five centuries later,” said Schwarz. “It’s about vision, and being the one to stand up and lead in times of turmoil. The legacy of Amir Timur is largely unheard of in the West, and Tamerlane is our attempt to change that.”
