EXCLUSIVE: Aura Entertainment has acquired US rights to the Gabrielle Union and Mike Colter supernatural horror thriller Casket Girls from BlacKkKlansman and Get Out producer/investor QC Entertainment. UK-based Capture is kicking off international sales in Toronto.
Justin G. Dyck, whose credits include Creepshow and Anything For Jackson, directs the story about a detective and her partner investigating a child’s supernatural encounter who get trapped inside a centuries-old New Orleans church when they accidentally unleash vampires. Production is understood to have wrapped.
Union starred in Bring It On and The Inspection while Galpin’s credits include Plane, Luke Cage, and Daredevil: Born Again. Rounding out the key cast are Raúl Castillo, Matt Frewer, and Thomas Lennon.
Night At The Museum co-writers Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant wrote the screenplay with revisions by Keith Cooper and Justin G. Dyck. Sean McKittrick and Raymond Mansfield are producing for QC Entertainment, with Edward H. Hamm Jr., Jameson Parker, and Union serving as executive producers.
Caroline Dubourg negotiated for Aura with Noor Ahmed of QC. “Casket Girls is the kind of genre film we built Aura to release,” said Aura CEO Marc Goldberg. “It’s a propulsive, character-driven horror thriller with a mythology as rich as its scares.”
Capture EVP of international sales Ella Field added, “With an irresistible mythology, a fantastic ensemble led by Gabrielle Union and Mike Colter, and QC’s proven track record in the genre, [Casket Girls] has true global appeal.”
Aura’s distribution credits include Anderson .Paak’s 2024 TIFF selection K-Pops!; upcoming action thriller The Beast with Samuel L Jackson and Joel Kinnaman; and upcoming dark comedy The Fox with Jai Courtney, Emily Browning, Olivia Colman, and the late Sam Neill.
