uMedia to produce and handle worldwide rights to London-set love story.
Michael Caton-Jones, director of Memphis Belle and This Boy’s Life, will next direct The Amazing Mr Jones.
uMedia will handle international rights and will produce alongside Lauri Apelian’s Ocean Sky Entertainment and Jens Meurer at Egoli Tossell. Caton-Jones previously made Shooting Dogs (Beyond the Gates) with Egoli Tossell.
Casting is underway on the film, which has been written by Robert Payne.
Set in London, it tells the story of a beautiful woman, married to a wealthy politician, who places an advert seeking a lover who can give her the orgasm she has yet to experience. When she meets a younger man, a passionate but complicated affair begins.
“I’m really excited with the script for The Amazing Mr Jones,” says Caton-Jones. “It’s often said that there are no good roles for women these days; The Amazing Mr. Jones well and truly blows that idea out the water with its achingly accurate portrayal of one woman’s journey through the modern minefield of life.”
Projects in development at uMedia include remakes of Pierre Salvadori’s Priceless and Johnnie To’s Don’t Go Breaking My Heart. It is also adapting Denis Bajram’s epic sci-fi graphic novel Universal War One, thriller Maelström, and The Scent Of Adam, from French novelist Jean-Christophe Rufin.
