Directors Celine Song, Julia Ducournau, Karim Aïnouz and Hakim Belabbes and actors Jenna Ortega, Anya-Taylor Joy and Payman Maadi, will comprise the competition jury of this year’s Marrakech International Film Festival. 

Marrakech, which takes place from November 28 to December 6, previously announced Parasite director Bong Joon Ho will chair the jury.

Canadian filmmaker Song is the director of Oscar-nominated Past Lives and Materialists; France’s Ducournau won Cannes’ Palme d’Or for Titane and returned this year with Alpha and Brazilian director Aïnouz has credits that include The Invisible Life Of Eurídice Gusmão, which won the Un Certain Regard award at Cannes 2019, and Firebrand.

They will be joined on the Marrakech jury by Moroccan filmmaker  Belabbes; Iranian actor and director  Maadi, a Berlinale Silver Bear winner for Asghar Farhadi’s A Separation; US actor Ortega, star of the series Wednesday and the film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice by Tim Burton; and Anglo-Argentinian actress Taylor-Joy, whose credits include The Queen’s Gambit, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and Dune: Part Two.

The jury will consider the 14 first and second feature films presented in Marrakech’s official competition.
