Our War

EXCLUSIVE: Cohen Media Group has acquired US rights to Bernard-Henri Lévy’s documentary Our War (Notre Guerre), which screens today (May 13) in Cannes’ Ukraine Day programme.

The French philosopher’s fourth film is a dispatch from the frontlines in Pokrovsk and Sumy and chronicles the ongoing conflict with Russia three years after the invasion. It follows Lévy’s documentaries Glory To The Heroes and Slava Ukraini.

Lévy embeds with elite drone units and through exclusive footage argues that the war is existential for Ukraine and explains why victory is attainable. It features exclusive interviews with French president Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian commanders, civilian artists turned soldiers, and a child rescued from abduction by Russian forces, and shows footage from the Anne de Kyiv Brigade.

Cohen Media Group EVP Robert Aaronson, who is actively acquiring films in Cannes, negotiated the deal with producer Emily Hamilton. The company and Cohen Media Group have a longstanding relationship through previous projects they have collaborated on including Slava Ukraini.

Cohen Media Group plans a summer theatrical release. In France, the film will debut in June on the platform of France Télévisions, who partners with the festival on the Ukraine Day progmramme.

Charles S. Cohen said, “Lévy’s courageous films consistently illuminate significant global issues, and Our War is no different.”

“I have traveled to the frontline countless times since the start of the full-scale invasion,” said Lévy. “There is no more critical time than the present to support the soldiers who are giving their blood, bodies and souls to defend our common values.”
