Gentleman

Korean sales company Contents Panda has acquired international sales rights to Gentleman, the first original feature from local OTT service provider wavve and is introducing it to buyers at the EFM.

The crime action film stars Ju Ji-hoon, Park Sung-woong and Choi Sung-eun and is about the head of a private detective agency, suspected of a kidnapping who teams up with a prosecutor to find the real culprit and uncover a larger conspiracy.

The film is the second from Kim Kyoung-won who made The Artist: Reborn. It has shot and is aiming for a release later this year in theatres as well as on the wavve platform.

Affiliated with major South Korean wireless carrier SK Telecom and the country’s three major terrestrial broadcasters, KBS, MBC and SBS, wavve generally competes with local rival Tving for the second largest market share of paid-for OTT subscriptions after Netflix in Korea.

The OTT platform is seen to be shoring up its foothold by investing in local content - with Gentleman, produced by Trickster Inc., as the first original feature it has backed.
