The distributor is understood to have acquired domestic and possibly select territory rights to Tanya Wexler’s period rom-com in a deal that Screendaily first learned about on Wednesday (28) but is yet to be confirmed.

The film was a firm favourite when it screened in Toronto earlier in the month and stars Hugh Dancy, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Felicity Jones and Rupert Everett.

The story charts in comedic fashion the circumstances surrounding the birth of the vibrator. Jonah Lisa Dyer and Stephen Dyer wrote the screenplay from a story they conceived with Howard Gensler. Producers are Judy Cairo, Sarah Curtis and Tracey Becker.

Cassian Elwes represented domestic rights and is understood to have closed the deal with SPC in the last few days. Elle Driver is selling international.
