Dori Begley has been promoted from director to vice-president of acquisitions at Magnolia Pictures.

Begley works closely with senior vice-president Tom Quinn in acquiring titles for Magnolia Pictures, Magnet Releasing, Magnolia Home Entertainment and Magnolia International.

Prior to joining the company in 2007, Begley served as manager of acquisitions for six years at Sony Classics, as well as associate programmer for the Tribeca Film Festival in 2007.

Magnolia has also promoted Peter Van Steemburg from manager to director of acquisitions. Van Steemburg has been with Magnolia for nearly two years, also working closely with Quinn and Begley on acquiring titles.

He was a key player in the acquisition of this year’s Bronson for the genre label Magnet Releasing. Prior to Magnolia, he worked for the film financing branch of Cinetic Media and was an assistant with Miramax International.
