EXCLUSIVE: Sven Bresser’s Cannes Critics’ Week title Reedland is among the films expected to screen at NLWave 25, the new Dutch screenings event launched today by the Netherlands Film Fund, SEE NL and Eye Filmuseum, in association with Christian De Schutter’s marketing, PR and strategic agency Hype Park.

NL Wave 25 will showcase early-stage projects, recently completed films, documentaries and animation to the international industry in Utrecht from September 24-26.

“There is a very good harvest of Dutch films coming up,” said Sandra den Hamer, chief executive office of the Netherlands Film Fund.

In addition to Reedland, this year’s Cannes immersive competition also includes two Dutch VR titles: Michel van der Aa’s From Dust; and Lacuna by Maartje Wegdam and Nienke Huitenga. Further upcoming features include David Verbeek’s The Wolf, The Fox And The Leopard, which is debuting at the Tribeca Film Festival in June, and Oscar- winning director Mike van Diem’s Our Girls.

The full NLWave25 line-up, which will include over 35 projects, will be announced in August. It will take place on the eve of the Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht which takes place from September 26-Occtober 3.

Last year, the city of Utrecht stopped its subsidy for the Netherlands Film Festival, forcing the festival to curtail its international activities including its long running industry event, the Holland Film Meeting.

“In this sort of vacuum, we thought we had to bring something new to the table,” Den Hamer said She confirmed the likely involvement of International Film Festival Rotterdam and International Documentary Festival Amsterdam in the event.

Delegates attending this year will also be invited to the Eye Filmmuseum exhibition of Tilda Swinton – Ongoing for which the Scottish actor, artist and fashion icon created six new works in collaboration with Luca Guadagnino, Joanna Hogg, Jim Jarmusch, Olivier Saillard, Tim Walker and Apichatpong Weerasethakul.
