Documentary film projects from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus are among the eight selected for the second edition of Change, the co-production training workshop run by CPH:DOX film festival, European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE) and International Media Support.

Teams from the selected projects will participate in workshops in Tbilisi, Georgia in October-November 2022, and in January 2023 at a yet-to-be-determined location. Masterclasses and group work sessions will be offered at both.

The third module of the programme involves a presentation of the projects to the international industry at CPH:DOX in Copenhagen in March 2023.

Projects include Svitlana Lishchynska’s Ukrainian title A Bit Of A Stranger, produced by Anna Kapustina. The project was previously presented as part of a Ukrainian presentation at Nordisk Panorama festival in Sweden last month, and will participate in the Ji.hlava New Visions Market in Czech Republic later in October.

Also selected are three Georgian projects: Gvantsa Meparishvili’s Boxes From Georgia; Tamar Kalandadze and Julien Pebrel’s Kartli; and Keti Machavariani’s Keepers Of Heritage.

The programme aims to ‘promote journalism and documentary film to strengthen the capacity of media to reduce conflict, strengthen democracy and facilitate dialogue’.

The first edition of Change ran last year, with workshops in Kyiv, Tbilisi and Copenhagen.

“The first edition of Change has not only shown how relevant the programme is, but also how urgent it is to help filmmakers in the region express their voices so that it can be heard in the rest of the world,” said Kristina Trapp, EAVE CEO.

”The war raging on European soil reminds us all how critical it is to hear the voices of our neighbours on the Russian - and European – doorstep,” added Tereza Simikova, head of industry & training at CPH:DOX.
