eOne has hired British writer-director Jonathan Entwistle to shepherd film and television adaptations of the Hasbro Power Rangers property.

The development comes as eOne looks to mine the rich stable of parent company Hasbro’s properties that include Dungeons And Dragons, Transformers, and G.I. Joe.

eOne will develop and produce the projects, with Entwistle set to direct across both formats.

The writer-director most recently co-created the Netflix original series I Am Not Okay With This and created Netflix original series The End Of The F***ing World.

eOne president of film Nick Meyer and president of global television Michael Lombardo hailed Entwistle’s “incredible creative vision for this iconic and hugely successful franchise”, describing him as “hands-down the right architect to join us as we reimagine the television and film worlds of this property.”

Hasbro acquired the Power Rangers franchise from Saban Brands in 2018 and release their first products the following year.

The American entertainment and merchandising franchise was built around a live-action superhero TV series based on the Japanese tokusatsu franchise Super Sentai.
