Fifteen films including Agnes Varda and JR’s Faces Places have made it on to the Academy’s shortlist for the best documentary feature for the upcoming 90th Academy Awards.
Cohen Media Group distributes Faces Places in the US. The selection includes Bryan Fogel’s Netflix film Icarus, an exposé of doping in sports that is particularly timely given the recent move by the IOC to ban Russia from the Winter Olympics in South Korea next February.
The Academy received 175 feature submissions and documentary branch members will select the five nominees to be announced on January 23, 2018.
The 90th annual Academy Awards are set for March 4, 2018,
