Spike Lee at Los Cabos International Film Festival awards gala

Andrés Kaiser’s Feral claimed the Cinemex – México Primero Award and several others at the seventh annual Los Cabos International Film Festival closing night gala ceremony at the weekend.

Spike Lee collected the Exceptional Contribution to Cinema History Tribute before presenting the Mexican premiere of BlacKkKlansman on Saturday (10), while one of the film’s stars Adam Driver received the Outstanding Work In Cinema from Terry Gilliam, who described him as “without a doubt, the best actor of his generation.”

Besides Feral’s triumph in the Cinemex – México Primero Award, the Los Cabos Competition Award went to Philippe Lesage’s Genèse, and the Cinemex Audience Award was presented to Birds Of Passage, the Colombian foreign language Oscar submission by Cristina Gallego and Ciro Guerra.

Art Kingdom Trailer Award
Feral by Andrés Kaiser. The filmmakers received a $14,000 USD award from Art Kingdom Showbiz Agency to produce a trailer, and equivalent services for the creative process, ending with a DCP copy.

The Devil’s Advocates. $100,000 MXN towards development.

Promo Trailer Art Kingdom Award
The Devil’s Advocates. A prize worth US $5,000, for the creative process and post-production services for a promo trailer.

Neza by Julio Hernández Cordón. $100,000 MXN cash prize.

El Hoyo En La Cerca by Joaquín del Paso. These two companies jointly awarded a double prize worth $1,283,911 MXN in film equipment rental, and $1,789,416 MXN in post-production services.

CTT Exp & Rentals Award
Estado Del imperio by Amat Escalante. Received $813,067 MXN in film equipment rental.

Talent On The Road Award / World Talent House:
Viaje Al País De Los Tarahumaras by Federico Cecchetti. The film crew received a prize of $150,000 MXN.

Ya No Estoy Aquí by Fernando Frías. Received an award valued at $443,700 MXN, equivalent to 100 hours of colour correction services at the sponsor’s premises.

The Marché du Film Award
