
EXCLUSIVE: Raymond Creamer’s elevated horror title Birth Night and Ondine Viñao’s satirical thriller Two Neighbors head the EFM slate of Clay Epstein’s US outfit Film Mode Entertainment.
Epstein will show the first footage on Birth Night, which takes place during a ferocious blizzard as a home birth spirals into terror when complications arise. The film stars Samantha Robinson, Colleen Foy, Zoe Renee, and Colby Hollman.
Phil Hunt’s Head Gear Films packaged the project with Room 101. Film Mode represents worldwide rights, excluding North America, UK and Australia.
Creamer, Keely Yulla Kemp, and Harrison Rothman are the producers, with horror veteran Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) of Room 101 and Head Gear’s Hunt, Compton Ross, and Charlie Kemball serving as executive producers.
Two Neighbors stars Chloe Cherry from Euphoria and Anya Chalotra from The Witcher. Jordan Johnson and Viñao co-wrote the screenplay based on Aesop’s fable Avaricious And Envious. They play a struggling writer and an insatiable socialite who become entangled in a psychological conflict.
Ralph Ineson from The Witch and Taz Skylar from One Piece round out the key cast. The film, produced by Silkscreen and Portal Pictures, shot in the UK and is produced by Ivy Freeman-Attwood.
Film Mode’s slate includes international rights to Diego Velasco’sThe Fields Are Watching, a horror mystery rooted in Latin American folklore starring Diane Guerrero from Orange Is The New Black and Juan Pablo Raba from Narcos.
The film centres on a grieving couple who unknowingly retreat to a Venezuelan farm with a dark past following the loss of their daughter. It is produced by Hideout Pictures’ Margaret Miller and Trevor O’Neil with Velasco. Film Mode will debut the trailer and Hideout Pictures represents North and Latin American rights.
Additionally, Jonathan Adams’ thriller horror Tarantulas has wrapped production in Australia and follows a research expedition in the outback that encounters an evolved species of deadly spiders.
Rhys Darby, Tahyna Tozzi, Alexandra Jensen, ‘Ana Ika, and Gareth Rickards star in the film produced by Susan Schmidt.
Film Mode represents worldwide rights excluding China, Australia and New Zealand. Verdict Film Group has acquired all rights in Australia and New Zealand.
