L’Age D’Or

EXCLUSIVE: Films Boutique is hitting AFM with Berenger Thouin’s L’Age d’Or, an innovative fusion of fiction and archival footage that follows its characters through the 20th century.

Thouin’s debut feature blends images of real people from Gaumont Pathé’s vast archives with scenes of contemporary actors shot between France, Italy and Brazil, who will be brought together on screen through image and sound editing and special effects.

The film’s cast is led by Souheila Yacoub, Vassili Schneider, Yile Yara Vianello and Pierre-Antoine Billon. L’Age d’Or centres around Yacoub’s character Jeanne and follows her through the 20th century from her childhood in her parents’ butcher shop, to Brazil and Paris in the Roaring Twenties as she pursues her dream of becoming a countess, to her adventures during the Second World War.

The script was written by Mehdi Ben Attia, Virginie Legeay and Rémi Langlade. L’Age d’Or is produced by Carine Ruszniewski for Gogogo Film, and co-produced by Graffitidoc and Les Films de la Chapelle.

Pyramide Distribution will release the film in France, I Wonder will distribute it in Italy, and Films Boutique is handling sales to all territories.

Ruszniewski said: “We wanted to give a voice to an anonymous woman in a century that hasn’t offered us many stories about women. And we wanted to make a grand female adventure film, one that would be both spectacular and worthy of our heroine.”

Films Boutique CEO Jean-Christophe Simon said: “Besides being a visionary and bold artist, Berenger will create a very personal film like a DJ would create tracks using samples.”

The company is aiming for a 2026 festival premiere.
