Every Heavy Thing

US-based sales and distribution company Firebook Entertainment has officially launched its production division with this weekend’s upcoming Spanish premiere in Sitges of Every Heavy Thing.

Mickey Reece wrote and directed the feature, which premiered at Fantasia and centres on a mild-mannered ad salesperson who spirals into paranoia when he witnesses a murder. Josh Fadem from Better Call Saul stars alongside Vera Drew, who directed and starred in 2022 Toronto International Film Festival selection The People’s Joker. Barbara Crampton, James Urbaniak, and Tipper Newton round out the cast.

Producers are Kassie Gann, Peter Kuplowsky, Andrew Appleyard, and John Moss, David Bond and Juan Pablo Reinoso for Firebook Entertainment, which also handles international sales on the feature.

Firebook said it plans to “marry genre thrills with artistic ambition, spanning horror, mystery, psychological thrillers, and beyond”.

CEO Moss’s executive producer credits include Gaelic-language horror An Taibhse (The Ghost), Dirty Boy, and Deathstalker, the reimagining of the 1983 cult film produced by Pasha Patriki of Hangar 18 Media and Raven Banner’s Michael Paszt. Raven Banner Entertainment and Shout! Studios will release in the US and Canada on October 10.

Moss said: “This official launch of our production division highlights what Firebook does best: packaging, financing, and internationally distributing elevated genre features. Our model strategically leverages treaty co-productions, tax incentives, and festival launches to maximise investor ROI while protecting the creative integrity of each film. Every Heavy Thing represents exactly that approach, and we couldn’t be more excited to show our first original feature at Sitges - an ideal platform to showcase the kind of bold, globally resonant storytelling Firebook is built to champion.”

Every Heavy Thing will screen in Sitges’ Noves Visions strand on October 12 and 13.
