The first look trailer and images from Veit Helmer’s Gondola, which is set to world premiere at this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF, Oct 23-Nov 1), have been unveiled.
The film follows two cable car attendants who fall in love as they face each other going up and down the remote mountains of Georgia.
As with many of Helmer’s titles, such as Sundance 2008 premiere Absurdistan and 2018 Tokyo title The Bra, the story is told with no dialogue.
The film stars Nini Soselia and Mathilde Irrmann, and was shot in the Adjara region of Georgia.
The Germany-Georgia co-production is supported by Eurimages and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. Coccinelle Film Sales is handling worldwide sales.
