
Paul Greengrass’s historical drama The Uprising starring Andrew Garfield will open in North America on September 11 through Focus Features.
Garfield stars alongside Jamie Bell, Stephen Dillane, Tom Hollander, Cosmo Jarvis, Thomasin McKenzie, Jonny Lee Miller, Woody Norman, and Katherine Waterston.
The Uprising centres on the late 14th century Peasants’ Revolt during the Hundred Years War in opposition to the unpopular poll tax levied by King Richard II.
Jason Blum is producing through Blumhouse, alongside Gregory Goodman, Joanna Kaye, Greengrass, Lars Sylvest via through Thank You Pictures, and Joe Neurauter of Supernix.
The Focus slate includes YouTube and Instagram creator Curry Barker’s TIFF sensation Obsession on May 15; Working Title’s Sense And Sensibility from Georgia Oakley and starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Mile on October 16; Anthony Maras’s Second World War drama Pressure with Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser, and Kerry Condon; Hayley Kiyoko’s feature directorial debut and coming-of-age tale Girls Like Girls; and Robert Eggers’ Werwulf on December 25.
The documentary slate includes Daniel Roher’s The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist, and Morgan Neville’s Lorne about Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels.
