Footballer-turned-director Hannes Halldorsson drives Icelandic comedy ‘The Bus Job’ to Global Constellation

EXCLUSIVE:  Global Constellation has boarded international sales on The Bus Job, the next film from Cop Secret director Hannes Halldórsson set to shoot in Iceland and Denmark in 2026. 

The heist comedy will follow a desperate single father who hatches a plan to kidnap a top-tier Danish football team. Halldórsson, who wrote the script with David Gill Jónasson and Nina Pedersen, was previously the goalkeeper of Iceland’s national football team 

Birgitta Björnsdóttir and Thor Sigurjonsson produce for Iceland’s Zik Zak Filmworks, with support from the Icelandic Film Centre. Scanbox Entertainment, a sister company to Global Constellation within the Vuelta Group, will release across Scandinavia and is also coproducing the film. Producer Sigurjonsson is also CEO at Scanbox.

”As Cop Secret and Iceguys may suggest, I thrive where humour meets large-scale scenes and energetic storytelling,” said Halldórsson. ”In this idea, I saw an opportunity to take that cinematic cocktail, which we rarely see in Icelandic cinema, and elevate it to a bigger and more international level.”

The 2021 action comedy Cop Secret was well received at festivals, including Locarno and London,and became a local box-office hit in Iceland.

Global Constellation was formed earlier this year with the merger of Film Constellation and Global Screen.
