CNC president Gaetan Bruel unveils the first ‘Lumiere Summit’

France will host the first ‘Lumiere Summit’ on September 7 focused on the future of cinema, series and gaming co-chaired by French president Emmanuel Macron and South Korean president Lee Jae Myung.

CNC President Gaetan Bruel unveiled the event in Cannes on Sunday (May 17). He described it as “a France-powered summit for the world co-chaired by the president of Korea” aimed to foster working exchanges and high-level strategic discussions.

The Lumière Summit will feature decision-makers from film, audio-visual, gaming and immersive creation industries.

Bruel said the themes to be tackled include the future of movie theatres, new convergences between TV, streaming and gaming, film education, the moving image in the ages of generative AI and the preservation of cinematic heritage.

Bruel called the summit “a global response to defend creation” amidst challenges to the industry including “growing pressure on public models, unprecedented consolidation, and rapid acceleration of generative AI.”

The summit will be held at the Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul de Vence in the South of France. Bruel added that the summit’s agenda and names of the participants would be revealed in the months ahead.
