An update on how US film and TV productions can access France’s filming incentive, the Tax Rebate For International Productions (TRIP), will form one of the major talking points of this week’s CNC showcase, US filmmaking in France: Living the French Experience, taking place in Los Angeles on Wednesday (November 4).
Running during The American French Film Festival (TAFFF) at the Directors Guild of America, the event will kick off with opening remarks from Arnaud Roland, deputy director of digital, CNC, before the first of three sessions, ‘Enhanced Tax Rebate For International Productions: What The ATL Expansion Means For Your Next Production’.

Daphné Lora, head of Film France-CNC & Game France, CNC, will talk about the recent amendment to TRIP that means above-the-line costs for non-EU talent are now categorised as eligible expenditure.
A panel called‘The Emmy Nominated French VFX Behind The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ will explore the collaboration between show producer AMC, three French visual effects houses and one French production company. Speakers include John Marler, post supervisor and producer, AMC Global Media; Olivia McLean, executive producer, Mathematic; Cem Olcer, VFX supervisor, BUF; Justine Paynat-Sautivet, show-side senior VFX producer; and Rebecca Samulon, business development producer, The Mill.
‘They Lived the French Experience: Voices From FAM Tours Across France’ will offer first-hand testimonies from film and television professionals who have participated in tours to sample French locations, facilities and services. Location scout Lori Balton, writer-producer Lila Byock, international location scout Aaron Hurvitz, and FilmNation head of physical production Melissa Morkus will be joined by moderator and producer Carolina Groppa.
Rounding out the day’s sessions is ‘Bringing Hacks’ Grand Finale To Paris’, where the show’s executive producer Nate Young and Valentin Françoise, CEO and producer at French production services company Meadow Pictures, will discuss how they collaborated on shooting the Emmy-winning show’s finale in the French capital.
Delegates scheduled to attend include French production services companies Cactus Films, Fulldawa Films, and Left & Right; French facilities Studios de Bry, Studios de Reims, and V Studios; and effects companies Dragnfly, Rodeo FX, and The Yard.
The event is hosted by Film France-CNC in partnership with Villa Albertine and Screen International.
