EXCLUSIVE: Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are set to direct the English-language high concept thriller The Cliff, starring Nora Arnezeder, for Paris-based The Pool Films.
The film is produced by France’s Phase 4 Productions and Place du Marché Productions with UK-based Featuristic Films.
It is about a woman who wakes up trapped inside a wrecked car hanging over the edge of a cliff in the middle of the desert, with a dead man beside her and no memory of how she got there.
The Cliff will shoot this summer from a script by Romain Serir.
Maury and Bustillo are known for French horror hits Inside, Leatherface, Kandisha and Deep House.
The film is illustrative of The Pool Films’ one-stop shop strategy after launching late last year to focus on English-language genre films with strong international pre-sales potential. The sales company is backed by VFX powerhouse Digital District Group and Victorine Studios in Nice and aims to bring together a studio, post-production, and VFX capabilities, alongside financing and international sales.
