EXCLUSIVE: German sales outfit Playmaker Munich has sold Marcus O. Rosenmüller’s biopic Münter & Kandinsky - The Blue Rider to Bulgaria (Beta Film), CIS (Voxell Rocket), Italy (PFA Films), Latin America (Encripta), and Spain (Twelve Oaks).
The film tells the story of artists Gabriele Münter and Wassily Kandinsky, the artists and lovers who helped found the ‘Blue Rider’ avant- garde movement of the early 20th century. While Kandinsky’s reputation soars, Münter finds it increasingly hard to cope with life by his side. Their relationship becomes increasingly complicated and destructive. The screenplay was written by Alice Brauner.
The film was produced by CCC Cinema und Television and MZ-Film. in co-production with CCC Filmkunst, Pamy Mediaproductions, and Gretchenfilm Filmproduktion.
Camino Filmverleih handled the German release.
Vanessa Loibl stars as Münter alongside Vladimir Burlakov’s Kandinsky.
Playmaker’sCannes slate also includes rave drama Rave On, directed by Viktor Jakovleski and Nicias Chryssos, that is set in the world of Berlin’s techno club scene.
