Kevin Costner will receive the Joseph Plateau Honorary Award for Career Achievement at the upcoming 36th Ghent International Film Festival in Ghent, Belgium.

The festival’s highest honour will be presented to Costner on October 11 prior to a live concertt the festival with his band Modern West.

Previous recipients include Morgan Freeman, Mike Leigh, Jean Reno, Agnes Varda, Jeanne Moreau, Juliette Binoche, Vanessa Redgrave and Robert Altman.

Costner earned best picture and director Oscars for Dances With Wolves and his credits include Bull Durham, The Bodyguard, Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves, The Untouchables, JFK and Field Of Dreams.

The festival will also stage four live concerts this year featuring performances by three-time Oscar winner Marvin Hamlisch, Golden Globe winner Alexandre Desplat, Marc Streitenfeld, and Japanese composer Shigeru Umebayashi.

The event will conclude with the 9th World Soundtrack Awards on October 17 and the handing out of awards presented in five categories.
