
EXCLUSIVE: Global Constellation has unveiled a first look from Polish filmmaker Jan Holoubek’s Second World War noir thriller Wild, Wild East, as the shoot gets underway in Poland and Latvia.
Itay Tiran (pictured left), Joanna Kulig (right) and Jan Bülow star. In occupied Poland in 1943, a German officer is sent to a remote village to investigate the disappearance of a Jewish lawyer. His arrival disturbs the fragile order between scarred villagers, corrupt collaborators and Nazi authorities, unearthing a web of betrayal and greed tied to whispers of the lawyer’s hidden fortune.
Polish producers are Bogna Szewczyk-Skupień and Klaudia Smieja-Rostworowska for Madants and Ewa Puszczyńska for Extreme Emotions.
Co-producers are TVN Warner Bros. Discovery, Adam Gudell at Moderator Inwestycje, Filip Friedmann and Michał Wawrzynowicz. It is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute, Wrocław Feature Film Studio, Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Lower Silesia Film Center in association with Mid March Media. Latvian services are provided by Alise Gelze at White Picture.
Global Constellation boarded the project off the back of its inclusion in the Gap Financing Market at this year’s Venice Film Festival.
