SND is launching sales at AFM on Frederic Tellier’s Fantomas starring Guillaume Canet and Romain Duris, based on the popular French crime thriller franchise.

Principal photography will begin in Paris in January. SND is producing alongside Wassim Beji’s Wy Productions and will release in France in 2027.

Set in Paris in 1914 amidst a spree of violent crimes and political tension, Fantomas focuses on a master of deception being pursued by a police lieutenant. It is based on an early 20th-century book series created by authors Marcel Allain and Pierre Souvestre that has inspired several previous screen adaptations.

Lyna Khoudri and Louis Peres also feature in the cast. Special effects are being handled by Atelier 69, the company behind Julia Ducournau’s Alpha and Titane.

Ramy Nahas, director of international distribution at SND, said: “Fantomas is a timeless character that has inspired numerous adaptations. Frédéric Tellier’s vision will bring a contemporary edge to this classic tale.”
