Hamnet, Sentimental Value, F1

Focus Features’ Hamnet, Sentimental Value, distributed by Neon in North America, and Apple’s F1 are among the features in contention for the Producers Guild Of America’s (PGA) top honour at the 37th Annual Producers Guild Awards in Los Angeles on February 28.

The list of nominees, announced on Friday (January 9), includes Warner Bros’ awards heavyweights One Battle After Another and Sinners as well as Weapons, making its first entry on a significant best picture nominees list this season. Warner Bros also distributed Apple’s hit F1.

The list includes two films that have mustered strong momentum in the last month or so – A24’s Marty Supreme and Netflix’s Frankenstein.

The Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures is regarded as a strong bellwether of success in the Oscar best picture category, with 17 of the previous 22 winners going on to claim the Academy Award, including last season’s Anora.

Hamnet, One Battle After Another, Sinners, Frankenstein, and Marty Supreme were all recognised in the Directors Guild Of America nominations earlier this week.

KPop Demon Hunters, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle and Elio are among the PGA’s animated feature nominees, while Adolescence and Black Mirror, which has just been greenlit for an eighth season on Netflix, are in contention in the limited or anthology series television category.

This season’s special honourees include Amy Pascal (David O. Selznick Achievement Award), Jason Blum (Milestone Award), and Mara Brock Akil (Norman Lear Achievement Award).

Final Ballots for feature, documentary feature and animated feature, as well as television, will close on February 3.
