EXCLUSIVE: Screen can reveal the first trailer for Nicolas Rincon Gille’s Iluminada ahead of its world premiere in the main competition at Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) this month.

Set in the Colombian capital Bogota, Iluminada follows the eponymous young woman, who writes down her visions in an attempt to decipher them. She then meets Juan, who opens up another world to her, but their relationship is not to the liking of those who control the neighbourhood.

The film is produced by Belgian company The Blue Raincoat. Danellis Zapata leads the cast, with Germany-based Visionär Films handling world sales.

Iluminada is Colombian filmmaker Gille’s fifth feature, and second fiction feature after 2019’s Valley Of Souls, which played at festivals including Busan, Rome, Marrakech and Rotterdam.

The 28th edition of SIFF runs from June 12-21.
