‘The Three Urns’

Irish distributor Break Out Pictures has acquired Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF) world premieres The Three Urns and opening night film Once Upon A Time In A Cinema for theatrical release across the island of Ireland.

The Three Urns will be released on April 17. John-Paul Davidson and Stephen Warbeck direct the comedy that stars Ciarán Hinds, Olga Kurylenko, Stephen Dillane, Stephen Fry and Sinéad Cusack. David Collins and Eamon Hughes of Ireland’s Samson Films produce. Break Out acquired the film from the producers directly. LA-based Hyde Park International reps international sales.

The Screen Ireland-backed film, which shot last year in County Donegal, is the follow-up to 2020 France-set The Man In The Hat. Hinds reprises his role of The Man, on a journey to scatter his wife’s ashes back home in Ireland.

Break Out will release Once Upon A Time In A Cinema on May 1, acquired from US seller Myriad Pictures. David Gleeson directs, based on his own experiences growing up in a family of Irish cinema owners in 1980s Limerick. Producers are Ireland’s Wide Eye Films, Belgium’s Umedia and Germany’s Tossell Pictures. Colin Morgan, Calam Lynch, Clara Crichton and Niamh Cusack star.

DIFF drew to a close on March 1.
