
Issa Rae, Dan Stevens, Zach Cherry, and Kate Berlant have joined Anna Kendrick and Seth Rogen on AGC Studios and Monarch Media’s comedy drama Babies, which has started production in Los Angeles on Monday (November 3).
Lauren Miller Rogen directs from her screenplay about a couple who have wrestled with whether or not to have a child and become instant co-parents when their newly-divorced friend moves into their home with her four-year-old.
Babies is shooting with the support of the California Film Commission’s Film and Television Tax Credit. Producers include LYLAS Pictures’ Miller Rogen and Jen W. Ray, AGC chairman and CEO Stuart Ford, and Monarch’s Steve Barnett, with AGC’s Miguel A. Palos, Jr. and Zach Garrett, Monarch’s Alan Powell and Vicky Patel and LYLAS’ Sophie Høegh serving as executive producers.
AGC and CAA Media Finance jointly represent worldwide rights and will continue talks with buyers at the AFM next week (November 11-16).
Rae created and starred in the hit HBO series Insecure and her credits include American Fiction, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, and Barbie. Stevens has starred in Downton Abbey, Gaslit, and Zero Day and recently wrapped Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, which is scheduled to open in 2027.
Cherry has been in Severance, as well as You Hurt My, Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Berlant co-created and starred in Would It Kill You to Laugh? And her film credits include Don’t Worry Darling, Dream Scenario, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Sorry To Bother You and the upcoming Maddie’s Secret and The Moment.
