Ivanhoe Pictures has boarded Shonali Bose’s upcoming Hindi-language drama The Sky Is Pink (working title), starring Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar. Ivanhoe joins Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP and Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films on the project.

Priyanka Chopra in ABC series ‘Quantico’

The film is based on the life of young motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary and her parents.Zaira Wasim, whose credits inlude Dangal and Secret Superstar, has been cast as Chaudhary, with Chopra and Akhtar playing her parents. The film marks Chopra’s return to Bollywood after her leading role in ABC’s Quantico.

Ivanhoe, which produced recent hit Crazy Rich Asians, will co-produce and co-finance the film, one of the first productions from former Disney India chief Siddharth Roy Kapur’s new banner. Screwvala previously founded Indian studio UTV, which he sold to Disney in 2012.

Bose previously directed award-winning drama Margarita With A Straw, about a young woman with cerebral palsy.

The Sky Is Pink has already started production and will shoot in Mumbai, London and New Delhi before the end of the year, followed by a brief schedule in India’s Andaman Islands in January. Release is scheduled for mid-2019.
