
Jason Bateman will direct Netflix’s live-action thriller The Cackling Of The Dodos starring Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson.
Film head Dan Lin announced the project at Wednesday’s Next On Netflix 2026 event in Hollywood.
The feature follows George, a small-town farmer who discovers a corpse in a grain bin and is forced into a chaotic cover-up by his boss Denny. The Cackling Of The Dodos is based an original screenplay by novellist Rye Curtis.
Bateman recently earned an Actor Award nomination from SAG-AFTRA for Netflix’s Black Rabbit, and also collaborated with the streamer on the thriller Carry-On.
Harrelson recently starred in comedy drama Ella McKay, while Rockwell led the cast in Constantin Film’s action adventure Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die.
