Javier Bardem, Marion Cotillard and Vanessa Redgrave have joined the voice cast of US filmmaker and artist Nicholas Ashe Bateman’s animation fantasy The Turning Door, with the UK’s Mister Smith Entertainment continuing international sales at the upcoming TIFF market.
Swedish musician Anna von Hausswolff has also joined the cast along with newcomer Pippa Kelly as production gets underway. Previously announced voice cast includes Alicia Vikander, Jamie Dornan, Jodie Turner-Smith, Bill Nighy and Gillian Anderson. They will perform original songs and music written by Claire Givens and Bateman.
The Turning Door is about a young girl who finds a mysterious box hidden in her parents’ closet. As it grows into an open door, she falls through to another world called The Turning.
The film is produced by former 2AM exec Christine D’Souza’s new US outfit After Hours, Hunter Hall and Nicholas Ashe Bateman of New York-based Maere Studios and Laura Rister for Los Angeles-based Esme Grace Pictures.
Mister Smith is co-repping North America with After Hours.
The Turning Door is the second feature directed by Bateman, following 2020’s The Wanting Mare.
