J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, whose World War Two horror Overlord debuted at number three in the North American charts last weekend, has bulked up its production slate with six projects from a crop of up-and-coming filmmakers.

The roster includes The Steps, which is based on an original idea by first-time director Stefan Grube and described as a twist on a possession story. Blair Butler will write the screenplay.

Grube is currently working as an editor alongside Maryann Brandon on Star Wars: Episode IX for Disney, Lucasfilm and Bad Robot, and was the editor on The Front Runner, Tully, and 10 Cloverfield Lane.

Grube is also lining up to direct Only The Lonely, a sci-fi romance based on a screenplay from the writing team of Dylan Meyer (XOXO) and Peter Glanz (writer-director on The Longest Week).

Untitled Megan Amram is a female-driven horror allegory and hails from Amram, whose TV writing credits include Parks And Recreation and The Good Place.

The Seven Sisters Of Scott County is a story about moonshine, trucking and sisterhood that Courtney Hoffman will write and direct. Hoffman wrote and directed short film The Good Time Girls.

Untitled Ben Shiffrin is a time-travel story, while Everything Must Go is described as Clerks for a new generation and will star Bobby Hall (AKA the rapper Logic), who is co-writing with Black-ish and Dr. Ken writer Lisa McQuillan.

Up next for Bad Robot is Star Wars: Episode IX scheduled to open on December 20, 2019.
