Kathryn Bigelow’s Netflix title A House Of Dynamite will have a limited theatrical release in early October ahead of its launch on the platform from October 24.

The date suggests the film will be in the running for awards consideration.

Bigelow was the first woman to win the best director Oscar for The Hurt Locker in 2010, which also won the best picture prize. Only two women have subsquently won the best director Oscar: Chloe Zhao for Nomadland in 2020 and Jane Campion for the Power Of The Dog in 2022.

House Of Dynamite stars  Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Gabe Basso, Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos, Moses Ingram, Jonah Hauer-King, with Greta Lee, and Jason Clarke. It follows the race to determine who is responsible for launching a single, unattributed missile towards the US.

A House Of Dynamite is produced by Bigelow, Noah Oppenheim, who penned the screenplay, and Greg Shapiro.

It is Bigelow’s first feature in eight years, following 2017’s Detroit and  2012’s Zero Dark Thirty .
