Left Bank Pictures CEO Andy Harries and US filmmaker Renny Harlin are among the speakers participating in the industry programme at the Mediterrane Film Festival in Malta (June 21-28).
Harries will deliver a lifetime achievement masterclass based around building his TV production company Left Bank Pictures, which has produced The Crown, Outlander and recent BBC drama Dear England.
Harlin, whose credits include Die Hard 2 and Cliffhanger, is leading a director masterclass while producers Aaron Barnett and Leif Bristow and X-Men actor Famke Janssen round out the masterclasses.
Malta’s proposed Land Sea Superstage will be discussed in a panel titled “Building the Studio of Tomorrow”, which will also tackle global infrastructure demands. The speakers are Glenn Gainor and Sandy Climan of Hollywood Ventures Group, Lee Rosenthal, former president of physical production worldwide for Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Studios, and Malta Film Commissioner Johann Grech.
There are further industry panels on topics including international co-productions, film finance, animation commissioning, and the vertical and short-form boom.
The festival also unveiled its juries for its two main competitions. Chairing the jury of the big screen competition is Portuguese actor Joaquim De Almedia, who is joined by IMDb founder Col Needham; UK producer Gina Marsh; UK actor James Nunn; Good Chaos founder Mike Goodridge; and Maltese hair stylist Marcelle Genovese.
The Mediterranean competition jury comprises US filmmaker Andy Tennant, Signature Entertainment’s Marek Pugh and casting director Theo Park.
