Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president Nathan Kahane is expected to leave his post when his contract expires towards the end of this year, according to reports.

Though his exit deal is still being finalised, Kahane is believed to be in talks to take up a producing deal with Lionsgate.

When Kahane departs, Erin Westerman, currently president of production at the Motion Picture Group is expected to take over responsibility for the company’s production slate under group chair Adam Fogelson.

Kahane joined Lionsgate in 2018, reuniting him with then group chairman Joe Drake. Drake and Kahane founded Good Universe, which was acquired by Lionsgate in 2017. They previously partnered at Mandate Pictures, also acquired by Lionsgate.

Two years ago Lionsgate merged its production and acquisition groups under Kahane.

Kahane has served as a producer or executive producer on over 30 films, among them Juno, the Harold & Kumar series, This Is The End, Neighbors, The Grudge, Evil Dead, Spike Lee’s Oldboy and Good Boys.

News of Kahane’s move was first reported by Deadline.
