Lionsgate will release Roland Emmerich’s sci-fi Moonfall in the US on February 4, 2022.

The project shot during the pandemic last year in Montreal under strict Covid protocols and stars Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, and John Bradley.

AGC Studios introduced Moonfall to Cannes buyers in 2019 and raised equity funding with Emmerich’s Centropolis and CAA Media Finance.

Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, Eme Ikwuakor, Carolina Bartczak, and Donald Sutherland star.

Berry plays a NASA executive and former astronaut who assembles a scratch team to save humanity when a mysterious force sends the Moon hurtling towards Earth.

With weeks to go before impact, she enlists the support of an astronaut from her past (Wilson) and a conspiracy theorist (Bradley). The teams flies off into space where they discover the Moon is not what was previously thought.

Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, Eme Ikwuakor, Carolina Bartczak, and Donald Sutherland round out the key cast.

Emmerich and Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen co-wrote Moonfall, while Emmerich and Kloser serve as producers.
