EXCLUSIVE: Conic has acquired all UK-Ireland distribution rights to Eivind Landsvik’s Cannes Directors’ Fortnight title Low Expectations.
The distributor is scheduling a theatrical release for early 2027, working with Access Cinema for the Ireland release.
Norwegian filmmaker Landsvik’s feature debut Low Expectations follows Maja, who falls apart at the height of her music career. Depressed and broke, she moves back home with her mother and works part-time at a local high school, where she slowly finds her way back to life.
The film is the feature acting debut of Norwegian singer-songwriter girl in red, real name Marie Ulven. It is produced by Lotte Sandbu and Synnove Horsdal for Norway’s Maipo Film, in co-production with Denmark’s Snowglobe.
It has previously sold to more than 30 territories including Italy, Portugal, Germany, Spain and Brazil. Nordisk Film Distribution will release the title in Norway on September 11, 2026. Paris- and Berlin-based Salaud Morisset handles sales.
