‘Rose Of Nevada’

Ambitious US arthouse buyer 1-2 Special has acquired all North American rights to Mark Jenkin’s Rose Of Nevada starring George MacKay and Callum Turner following its world premiere in Horizons in Venice.

The mystery drama centres on two young men from a derelict fishing village who take jobs aboard a vessel that has mysteriously reappeared after vanishing 30 years prior. When they return after a successful trip they appear to have gone back in time and the villagers greet them as if they were the original crew.

Rose Of Nevada received its North American premiere in Toronto last month and marks Jenkin’s third feature after Enys Men and Bait.

Denzil Monk produced for Bosena. Eecutive producers are Ama Ampadu for BFI, Farhana Bhula, Ollie Madden, and Ben Coren for Film4, Phil Hunt and Compton Ross for Head Gear, Kingsley Marshall and Neil Fox for Falmouth University’s Sound/Image Cinema Lab, and Johnny Fewings. Film4 developed the project and co-financed with BFI awarding National Lottery funding.

1-2 Special negotiated the deal with Protagonist Pictures and plans a 2026 theatrical release.
